FAQ

Questions at the table

Do I need a separate account?

No. Sign in with the same email you use on DND Cards. Your campaigns and cards are shared.

Is DND Chat replacing DND Cards?

No. Cards, boards, PDF shredding, and the VTT stay on DND Cards. DND Chat is the table for chat, dice, and session planning.

How do dice rolls work?

Use /roll 1d20+5, the Roll menu in the composer (die pool + bonus stepper), or the dice tray. Rolls are computed server-side, stored in roll_events, and can play a cinematic d20 cast when 3D dice are on.

Can players see monster AC and HP in chat?

No. Card embeds filter secret stat labels server-side for players. DMs see full stats and can switch to player preview locally.

How do I conjure a monster card?

Type /summon goblin (or any card title in your campaign). The card must exist on your DND Cards board first.

Can an AI really run my game?

The Autopilot DM (beta) can. Import a module PDF — it becomes playable scenes — then start a session and the AI narrates, reacts to what your party says, and calls for ability checks with DCs. The human DM keeps full override: pause, resume, or take the chair back mid-scene.

Where does my starting equipment come from?

The character builder includes RAW starting equipment for every class — choose your loadout or roll for gold instead. Background kits are included down to the trinket, and the whole kit lands in your campaign inventory as painted item cards when the character is created.

Is it free?

Yes during early access — included with DND Cards. See Pricing for future tier notes.

Can players use it on mobile?

Yes. The tavern and chat are mobile-friendly; we are actively polishing the phone-at-the-table layout.
